A Little About Me

Hi, I’m Undra, a fully qualified, registered, and insured counsellor based in Huntly, Aberdeenshire. I offer face‑to‑face sessions from my counselling room, as well as online sessions across the UK.

Before training as a counsellor, I worked in education, supporting children and young people. Helping them build emotional resilience during the Covid‑19 lockdown, using a non‑confrontational and restorative approach, started my passion for counselling. I’ve always been drawn to helping others, and that path has continued to shape me today.

I have been involved in my local community for many years, since moving to Scotland. I ran the Huntly Language and Diversity Group, offering support to Ukrainians, newly arrived individuals, and people whose first language is not English. I also volunteer at the Bydand Medical Practice and the Networks of Wellbeing, where I provide counselling sessions and facilitate a weekly Bereavement Café.

My lived experience helps my awareness of cultural competency, mixed and dual heritage, migrant identity, cross‑cultural complexities, and intersectionality in our modern and global society. This understanding allows me offer a space where all parts of your identity are welcome.

If you feel ready to explore yourself more deeply or reconnect with who you are, I would be happy to offer a safe, warm, and non‑judgmental place to begin that journey.

How I Work

My role isn’t to tell you what you should do or to give advice, but to offer a warm, understanding space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.

I work with a person‑centred counselling approach. Person-centred counselling is based on the belief that you are the expert on your own life. I listen without judgement, and I follow what feels important to you. When you feel truly heard and accepted, it can become easier to make sense of things and to find your own way forward.

If you feel this might be the right time to talk, I offer a free 20‑minute initial consultation, either face-to-face or online. It’s simply a chance for us to meet, have a wee chat, and see whether working together feels right for you.

Why Choose Undra Astbury Counselling

People I work with often describe our sessions as grounding, calm, and supportive, and value having a space where they can be fully themselves. Many say that counselling helps them feel more understood, better resourced, and more able to navigate the complexities of their lives.

Our Clients Say It Best

“I’m incredibly grateful for the support I received during a very painful period of grief and loss. I was apprehensive at first and unsure what to expect, but in a short space of time, Undra helped me navigate my emotions, feelings, and gain much deeper understanding of how I process things. She was warm, welcoming, and compassionate, and genuinely don’t think I could have got that time without her support. Counselling gave me hope and clarity when I felt I had none. So whether you’re navigating grief or simply trying to make sense of life look no further than Undra. I highly recommend her.”
